Game Store Guide

official releases & a brief history

We launched Day Zero Base Set on Kickstarter in 2021 and smashed records becoming the most backed physical TCG at the time. Springing from this we released 1st Edition Base Set worldwide in 2022 via distribution partners, getting it stocked in game stores around the world. Our 1st expansion, Harmonic Surge launched in June 2023 and we plan to continue a release cycle of 1 major set every 6-9 months with Cosmic Collision and Fantastic Feasts being our planned 3rd and 4th sets respectively.

Every great and fun card game lives and dies by its organized play. For our purposes, we have partnered with a strong ally in this department, Carde.io. Ranked play, league play, drafting

Nostalgix is capable of being played in a variety of exciting ways at your store. Let’s dive into a few of these options now.

Ranked Play

When you create an Event in NGEM, you are able to categorize it as “Ranked” play. Results of this type of event will grant points to players, allowing them to appear on a global Rankings board in the NGEM platform. By default these events are Swiss style tournaments. We recommend a best of 3 games round with a 1 hour cutoff. At the conclusion of a 1 hour round, tiebreakers are determined by looking at the final game state and adding how much hero damage was dealt, PLUS how many prize counters were taken in the final game for each player. The player with the highest value wins the ongoing game.

Ranked Play Prizes

Tournament kits can be purchased by verified stores through Nostalgix directly for $5. These include a golden Champion card, a silver Finalist card, and 8 Semifinalist cards.

League Play

When you create an Event in NGEM, you are able to categorize it as “League Play”. These are open play events held weekly, bi-weekly or even monthly in stores to introduce new players to Nostalgix. These events are the lifeblood of your community and we recommend stores host these at minimum every 2 weeks. You may host a casual tournament within a League Play event or simply have open play and exhibition matches with trading.

League Play Prizes/Promos

League Play kits can be purchased by verified stores through Nostalgix directly for $10. These include 40 promo cards with a Nostalgix League stamp, and two Nostalgix League exclusive playmats, one of which contains a Nostalgix League Champion badge.

Drafting Nostalgix

Nostalgix was created with a colorless mana base and as such is uniquely capable of being drafted. Within casual and Nostalgix League play, draft play is a massive feature of our game. Here’s our recommendations for how to host the ultimate draft party.

$20-$25 entry, 7 packs per player. Each player must build a 50 card deck, plus select a hero. This Hero can be one they pull from a pack OR our draft hero ability featured on “Cardmaster Zaba”.

Draft Hero “cardmaster Zaba” ability enables cross-evolution

Our draft hero’s ability states “Once per turn you may pay 2 mana to allow any of your Fighters to evolve into any other Fighter with a level 1 great than theirs this turn. You still need to pay their mana cost. This allows any deck to be constructed, regardless of evolution lines opening the draft format entirely. Effectively a player could evolve a Lucky Frog into a Semperkin into a Booster Box Dragon with this ability. Because Nostalgix accepts hero proxies you can simply inform your players of this Hero option or print out copies for your play purposes.

Draft Prizes

Prizes for Draft Events could include additional Nostalgix packs, League Play kit items, or even discounts on other store merchandise. The sky is the limit. We hope you enjoy this exciting play option.
